On September 19, 2018, at Shenzhen High-Tech Industry Park, a seminar co-organized by Guangdong Intellectual Property Office and Jiaquan IP Law was held on the subject “Intellectual Property Systems in Japan, US and Europe).  The seminar was aimed at encouraging Chinese companies to file applications overseas.

Mr. Atsushi Nagano, patent attorney and Deputy Divisional Manager of the Chemistry Biotechnology Division delivered a lecture on the subject “Statistic utilization of the Japanese Patent System” regarding the latest circumstances of patent applications in Japan and utilization of the system for acquiring a globally strong and stable patent rights, and Mr. Akihiro Oda, patent attorney and member of 1st Mechanical/Design Division delivered a lecture on the subject “Design Management and Strategic Utilization of Japanese Design System” regarding importance of acquiring design rights and an approach for obtaining broad and strong design rights.

At this seminar, in addition to our patent attorneys, Ms. Hui Chen Wauters, a lawyer of Sughrue Mion, PLLC (US), and Mr. Thorsten Last, a patent attorney of RGTH Richter ∙ Gerbaulet ∙ Thielemann ∙ Hofmann Patentanwälte PartGmbB, also gave lectures.  Each lecture was followed by an active Q & A session, and there was observed a strong interest in protecting intellectual property rights abroad.
